Today we have a Teams meeting at 9.30. Please have the questions that you would like to ask the stone mason with you please. Today’s tasks are listed below. Please listen to the video below where I will talk you through what you will be doing.

Science

Today we will be interviewing a stonemason as part of our Teams meeting at 9.30. I have asked you to prepare 2-3 questions that you would like to ask him. For your science task today, I would like you to write the answers to those questions as well as writing two other things that you learnt during the interview.

Maths

For your starter, can you try this times table speed check?

Remember to apply the different methods that we have looked at over the last few weeks. Please send a picture once you have finished.

Reading

D&T

Today I would like you to design your pizza and think about how you will make it. Can you write a list of ingredients for your pizza and a recipe for what you will do next week? You can choose whether you make your pizza base, or you could choose to make your pizza using a different bread product, such as a bagel, wrap or baguette. If you decide to make your pizza base, I have included two recipes below. One recipe uses yeast and one recipe is without yeast. Looking at these recipes may also give you some ideas for your own set of instructions. You also need to think about food safety and how to be hygienic in the kitchen. I will be looking for this when I mark your work. Please see the sheets below.

Good Morning Class 2,

I hope you have had a lovely weekend. Perhaps you managed to get outside in the snow if you had any? Today there will be a Teams meeting for year 5 at 2.30. We will complete our spelling test and a guided reading session. Year 3 and 4, your session will be later in the week. Please watch the video below to explain today’s learning.

Maths

Today for your maths warm up I would like you to complete the times table rockstars task that I have sent you via email. Everybody is working on a different times table in school, so the one that you have been sent is the one that you are currently working on. Don’t worry about completing all three sheets. Just complete one of the three sheets, allow yourself three minutes to see how many you can complete.

Science

Today we will be looking at igneous rock in more detail. Please complete this lesson from the Oak Academy. The task is part of the video. Please pause the video when you are asked to in order to complete the task on the screen.

Once we have looked at the three types of rock in more detail, I am hoping that you can carry out a practical investigation with chocolate (like the one that you saw in the video) to represent they three types of rock. That will take place either next week or the week after, so in preparation could you please get a bar of white, milk and dark chocolate. Don’t worry if you cannot get these – I will provide an alternative activity.

For tomorrow’s science lesson I have arranged for a stone mason to join us for our Teams meeting. This is a video explaining what a stonemason’s job involves.  Before tomorrow’s Teams meeting, could you each prepare 2-3 questions you would like to ask him. You could think about our learning so far about rocks, or it could be about his job. Could you please either e mail your questions to me, or send them to me via class dojo?

PE

It is important at the moment to make sure we are getting enough exercise. If you can combine that with fresh air that would be great! Perhaps you could go for a walk/bike ride/ run with a member of your family? If you are unable to, can you complete today’s Joe Wicks workout? You will find the link to his youtube channel below.

Reading

On Fiction Express I would like you to read the next chapter of your book. Or you can use the Oxford Owl website.

English

In Rudyard Kipling’s Just So stories, he tells us a story about how the leopard got his spots. Can you create your own version explaining how the jaguar got his spots? Or perhaps how  the elephant get its trunk? Or how about explaining how a giraffe got its long neck? Why has a rabbit got long ears? Why is a zebra stripy? For your story try to think about:

What is special about the animal?   (E.g. His long neck)

What was the giraffe like at the beginning of the story? (E.g. Has a neck a normal size)

What problem might the animal have had in the the story? (He has his neck stretched/ he can’t reach the leaves)

Who or what caused the problem? (Other animals – zebras, rhinos etc. OR wire that he got stuck in)

What could the solution to the problem be? (Some of the animals hold his feet and others hold his head and they gradually stretch him so his neck is long)

What will life be like for the giraffe at the end of the story? (Long neck can reach the high leaves)

If you are not familiar with the Just So Stories, I have added two below. You may need an adult to read them to you. I have also added a video clip which tells a story similar to the Just So Stories.

How-the-camel-got-his-hump

How the rhino got his skin

f you have a younger brother or sister, you might want to see if you can watch some CBeebies Tinga Tinga tales with them which are really similar.

D&T

We will complete this afternoon’s D&T Task as part of our Teams meeting. Can you please join the meeting with either the sheet printed out, or have the tally chart and pictogram grid drawn out. We will complete the survey as a class. Perhaps we can also survey your siblings if they are with you, to find out what the most popular pizza toppings is.

Computing

We are continuing to look at digital communication. Have a look at the powerpoint below about blogging.

Blogs

Than you can explore the BBC  Blue Peter blog.

Finally, can you log in to purple mash and write a brief book review for our class blog? I will need to approve all posts before they are published so your review might not appear straight away. For further details, see the last few slides of the powerpoint.
