Home Learning Monday 11.01.21

Good morning class 2.

I hope you have all had a lovely weekend? Thank you for all of your hard last week. Some of the work that I saw coming through on class dojo was brilliant!

I have added a video below to talk you through the activities on today’s website. Could you please send me a picture of your maths, science and English today, either by e mail or through class dojo.

Today I will have a Teams meeting at 3.00pm with the years fives for your spelling test. Year three and four, your spelling test will be completed on Thursdays. Your spellings for the following week will be updated once you have completed your test. Later today I will also be sending out Teams invitations for a meeting tomorrow. I will update on class dojo once these invitations have gone out.

For your mental warm up, try playing the games below with an adult or sibling. You might have counters to use, or you could try different items e.g. pennies, beads. I have also included some printable counters for you to use if you cannot find anything else. If you could keep this game once you have printed it, I will set it for a warm up next week too.

Year 3’s task today is an investigation exploring different possibilities. There is no accompanying sheets, but you will need to complete the activities as they appear on screen. Reading

On Fiction Express I would like you to read the next chapter of your book. I mentioned last week on the Teams meeting that some year three children may prefer to choose a book from the Oxford Owl website. You can create a free account to access different books from your child’s reading stage.

Class 3 home learning 11.1.21

Good morning Class 3! It’s a new week of home learning! I’m sure you’re all super awake and can’t wait to get started!

I’ve made a timetable for you so you can see which lessons you will be doing each day!

I’ve noticed that some of you are completing the work VERY quickly, this timetable might help you to see the amount of time I am expecting to be put in to each lesson.

Today we will learning how to use commas to clarify meaning. Click here to go the natural curriculum website. Work through the challenges in your home learning books including the whiteboard challenges on tab 3. Then complete the Headlight beetle worksheet. Do not complete the writing challenges on tab 4 as they are tomorrow’s work!

Science: 

Click here for today’s lesson! Following on from last week’s science lesson, today you will be learning about all of the major bones in your body! Be  sure to complete the quiz that follows and let me know what you scored!

Using the mind map you completed yesterday, can you write a recount of you Christmas holidays. Your first paragraph is an introduction and should include an overview of your activities over the holidays. Then you can start adding more details in your next paragraphs. As this is a recount, please remember to use time conjunctions through out your writing. To conclude your writing you could refer back to any thoughts you had in the introduction (Even though I was worried Christmas wouldn’t be as exciting, I still had an incredible time, especially when…).

Once you have finished your recount, you can either send the document to me via email or take a picture and send it to me via dojo

Religious Education

Over the next few weeks we are going to be looking at different places of worship. Today we are going to look at the key features of a Church.

There are many different features within a Church, these are important to the Christian faith and the ceremonies they hold. Some of these features are listed in this table.

Class 3 home learning 6.1.21

Good morning class 3! Welcome to day 1 of home learning! Before you start, I would like everyone to send me an email via your outlook accounts. If you haven’t responded to the teams meeting invitation please do so!

Maths:

To begin with I have attached everyone’s favourite multiplication tables challenge, if you can print it off; great, if not don’t worry, just have a go on a piece of paper! Don’t forget to set a timer for 5 minutes!

Science: 

In science we are going to be studying the human body, today’s first lesson is looking at the human organs and understand why we need them. Click here to go to the lesson.

PE:

Once you’ve completed these lessons you can practise your weekly spellings and log on to purple mash and complete your weekly 2do’s. Spellings will be tested every Friday in a live teams meeting!

Please send photographs of you work to me directly either via email or class dojo, alternatively you can upload your work to your ‘portfolio’ on classdojo if you prefer. It is important that we stay motivated and try our best even when working from home!

Can you please choose a book to read on Fiction Express. I would like you to read the first chapter of your book.

Science

Over the next few weeks we will be starting looking at rocks. Today I will like you to start to think about the properties of rocks. Can you please collect some different rocks from your garden or while you are walking. Study your rock samples. Get to know how it looks and feels; its colour, its texture (roughness/ smoothness), its hardness or crumbliness, any speckles or glittering. Can you divide your rocks into groups- e.g. the rocks that are crumbly/speckled.

Now can you draw your different rocks. Use pastels/pencils or wax crayons to draw each rock.  Look very closely at the rock and choose your colours  to make your drawing as realistic as possible. For example-

Now can you write a description of your rock.

Here is an example of a good description of a  rock:
‘This rock is mostly grey with patches of tiny white crystals. It has a rough and dusty texture’.

Please use the sheet below to draw your rocks or you could use some plain paper if you prefer.

Over the next couple of weeks we will be looking at online communication including emails, websites and blogging.

For your first task, can you explore the BBC website about online communication. Then I would like you to remind yourselves about how to send an email. Can you please log in to your e mail account and send me an e mail? I would like to hear about what you have done over the Christmas holidays. You can also tell me about the work that you have completed today and anything that you have enjoyed.
