English:

Today you will be writing a newspaper article reporting the discovery of the human feet in chapter 1 of Secrets of a Sun King. If you haven’t read chapter 1 (which was posted on Monday) make sure you do! If you want to refresh your memory, you can still access it on Monday’s post. Click here to go to a BBC bitesize page which will guide you through your newspaper article. Be sure to watch the video as a reminder and then complete the quiz before you get started!

When you are writing your own newspaper article:

  • Make your headline short and snappy.
  • In the first sentence sum up what the story is about.
  • Write your report in the third person and the past tense.
  • Split your newspaper report up into paragraphs to help the reader clearly understand the information.
  • If you use quotes to make your report more interesting, don’t forget to use speech marks!
  • Use a photo with a caption to give the reader more information.
  • Fill your newspaper report with both facts and opinions. Facts give the reader all of the information they need by using the 5 Ws.

Bookfest/Reading:

Please watch the second Bookfest bites from Ali and then complete the favourite book KS2 worksheet. I’d like you to think really about why your favourite book is your favourite! What is it that you love about that particular book? When you have completed the writing you can re-create the spine of your favourite book and colour it in on the sheet. Favourite Book templates

PSHE:
