Home Learning – 03.02.21

Good morning Class One.  It’s lovely to be back with you all again for some fun learning this week. Here are your tasks for today.  Reception, please join me at 11:00 for our English work for today. Years One and Two, join me at 11:20 please.

Phonics

Reception – Yesterday you looked at the oa phoneme and today we are going to look at oo.  Can you think of any words that have the oo sound in them?   Oo can make different sounds though, oo as in moon and an u sound like in cook so it can be a bit tricky! This video might help you hear the difference between the two sounds.

Have a go at my soundbuttons.

Can you sound and blend my sentences?

Review your learning by helping the alien to cross the bridge. Look at the image, listen to the word and then put the letters in the correct order.

Years One/Two – let’s look at alternative spellings for ng. We have learnt ng at the end of words, like strong and belong but it can also appear in the middle of a word as an n on it’s own if it’s followed by the letter k, like in thinker, blinking or stinking.

Have a look at these words and add the sound buttons to the ng phoneme in each one.

Now try writing these sentences. Get your grown-up to read them out to you so you can write them down.

Maths

Reception – today we are looking at how to count.  Watch the Numberblocks and see what happens when a flapjack goes missing!

Can you make me a numbers book?  It needs to have a picture that represents how many, a numeral (1) and the written word to show that numeral (one). Maybe your book could have a theme like transport or animals? Start with 0 and see if you can you go all the way to 10!

Years One/Two -today we are comparing objects within 50. We are looking at more than/less than, or more/fewer.  Sometimes our answers might be the same though so we say that is equal to or =.  Remember our number gators to help out with this and don’t forget, the crocodile always eats the largest number!
