Home Learning Tasks – 10/06/20

Good morning, I hope you’ve all had a lovely week so far?  If you have any paper plates at home, you will need them on Friday!  Here are your tasks for today/this week.

Reception:

English

We are going to have a go at writing the story of The Lighhouse Keeper’s Lunch this week, using your story map to help you. It doesn’t all have to be written in one go but over the next three days.  Maybe write a little bit – just up to the part where Mrs Grinling sends the lunch down the wire to Mr Grinling.  Then add some pictures to go with your story.  Remember to use capital letters, finger spaces and full stops in your writing. Can you read your story back to your grown-up?

Maths

Sing along to our counting in 2s song – watch out for the space cow at the end!

Can you find five pairs of things in your house?  A pair is two of something.  How many pairs do you have? Can you count how many of each thing you have in twos? Draw in your home learning book what you found and how many there were?

Topic

Have a try at creating a sea picture.  You could paint the sea using lots of blues or greens if you have them, then adding Mr Grinling’s lighthouse in the picture plus some pesky seagulls!  You could paint your picture, or draw your picture or use Paint on the computer – I’d love to see the different ideas you all come up with.

Year One:

We are going to have a go at writing the story of The Lighhouse Keeper’s Lunch this week, using your story map to help you. It doesn’t all have to be written in one go but over the next three days.  Maybe write the first part – just up to the part where Mrs Grinling sends the lunch down the wire to Mr Grinling.  Then add some pictures to go with your story.  Remember to use capital letters, finger spaces and full stops in your writing. Try to join sentences with ‘and’. Remember to try to do this by yourself without help from your grown-up.  I know you can!

Maths

Try out your tables knowledge on Times Table Rockstars.  You need to know your 2s, 5s and 10 times tables in and out of order!

Here are some 2x table activities for you to try:

Maths

Try these multiplication wheels.  We haven’t done these before in class but they are really easy, I promise!  The bulls eye is the times table we are using.  The number in the middle is how many times the middle number (i.e. 3 x 2) and the outer number is the answer, 3 x 2 = 6.  (Grown-ups, there is an answer sheet if that helps).
