Next week!

Next week we are going to be looking at The Polar Bear and the Snow Cloud as a starting point.

*We will be reading the story and then painting with different utensils.

*We are going to write some poetry for a competition.

*On Tuesday we will be having our fortnightly visit to the Library van.

*We really love baking so we are going to make a healthy chocolate cake.

*During challenge time we will be taking the next step in making our bug hotel.

*We will be practising our scissor skills and making some polar bear masks.

*Finally we will look at how a snowflake is made.

It’s all very wintery!!

Christmas!

We have had a fabulously fun Christmas. This week has been amazing! Santa came and left two presents. He even decorated our play house into a grotto! We have made and delivered cards for the village too and then today joined in with the performance of Whoopsy Daisy Angel!

Zoom call from Santa!

Yesterday Nursery and Class One had a fabulously festive afternoon.

We iced some biscuits, had a hot chocolate and then received a zoom call from the man himself, Santa! The children were able to ask him some questions. One great one was “How is Rudolph?”. Santa then did a magic trick and read a story. He congratulated the children on their brilliant phonics work and how kind they are to each other.

What are we doing this week?

This week we have lots of Christmassy things to do!

*Make more Christmas cards to deliver around the village.

*Library van visit.

*Nativity practice.

*Ice Christmas biscuits, drink hot chocolate and zoom from Santa. (A surprise for the children).

*Make our snowflake headbands.

*Make chocolate and candy cane hearts.

*Friday 9am Parents in for a Christmas ‘get together’.

Christmas is coming!

Here are our plans for next week from Monday the 28th of November.

  • Use positional language to decorate the Christmas tree.
  • Begin to make cards for the local community.
  • Watch a clip from an Aladdin Pantomime and then make a ticket for the show on Wednesday.
  • Use junk box materials to make a vehicle.
  • Christmas throwing game.
  • Aladdin pantomime.
  • Five Little Snowmen song.
  • Write a letter to Cheswardine Hall.

What are we going to do next week?

The children have really enjoyed learning new nursery rhymes this week so we are going to continue with some more. These are our plans for the week.

*Learn BINGO song.
*Make edible ‘dog’ biscuits.
*Make up a brand new type of vehicle.
*Frog tiddlywinks. (Continue to learn the rhyme Five Little Speckled Frogs)

*Set up the role play area as a star gazing space.

Next week’s fun!

This week is World Nursery Rhyme Week so in the first half of the week we are focusing on some that we know well and some new ones too. Here are our plans:

The Big Ship Sails: We are going to walk the plank and in the afternoon make some pirate juice.

One, Two, Three, Four, Five….: Putting fish into groups – what can we see?
We are going fishing!

Five Little Speckled Frogs: How many can we get to the lily pad.

We’re Going on a Bear Hunt’: Which vehicles could we use?

Children in Need: Physical spots game and Pudsey cakes.

Take a look at https://www.worldnurseryrhymeweek.com/ for some more fun ideas to use based on Nursery Rhymes.

Tiger Who Came to Tea!

Last week Nursery and Class One had a brilliant time watching ‘The Tiger Who Came to Tea’ at the Regent Theatre in Stoke. Some of us were a little sleepy on the journey home though but it was so good even the adults enjoyed it! We were very proud of the children – for some of our Nursery children it was their first ever trip.

Fun outdoors!

At Cheswardine Nursery we have always enjoyed playing outside and love our outdoor area. It has just got a whole lot better though! We have seen some brilliant role play in our new play house since we had it built for us.
