Today I will hold a Teams meeting at 10.00 and 1.30. At 10.00 we will talk through the English task and at 1.30 we will complete a survey of our favourite pizza toppings in the class. Please look at the video below explaining today’s activities.
Maths
Warm up: Times table rockstars – between 9.00 and 9.15, I will be looking at the arena section of TT rockstars. If you are able to, can you log in at this time and play against your classmates? If not, can you challenge someone to a game in the rockslam area?
Year 3
Today’s task is an activity. Pause the video or powerpoint when asked and try to complete the challenged on the screen.
In Rudyard Kipling’s Just So stories, he tells us a story about how the leopard got his spots. Can you create your own version explaining how the jaguar got his spots? Or perhaps how the elephant get its trunk? Or how about explaining how a giraffe got its long neck? Why has a rabbit got long ears? Why is a zebra stripy? For your story try to think about:
What is special about the animal? (E.g. His long neck)
What was the giraffe like at the beginning of the story? (E.g. Has a neck a normal size)
What problem might the animal have had in the the story? (He has his neck stretched/ he can’t reach the leaves)
Who or what caused the problem? (Other animals – zebras, rhinos etc. OR wire that he got stuck in)
What could the solution to the problem be? (Some of the animals hold his feet and others hold his head and they gradually stretch him so his neck is long)
What will life be like for the giraffe at the end of the story? (Long neck can reach the high leaves)
If you are not familiar with the Just So Stories, I have added two below. You may need an adult to read them to you. I have also added a video clip which tells a story similar to the Just So Stories.
f you have a younger brother or sister, you might want to see if you can watch some CBeebies Tinga Tinga tales with them which are really similar.
D&T
We will complete this afternoon’s D&T Task as part of our Teams meeting. Can you please join the meeting with either the sheet printed out, or have the tally chart and pictogram grid drawn out. We will complete the survey as a class. Perhaps we can also survey your siblings if they are with you, to find out what the most popular pizza toppings is.
Finally, can you log in to purple mash and write a brief book review for our class blog? I will need to approve all posts before they are published so your review might not appear straight away. For further details, see the last few slides of the powerpoint.
I hope you have all had a good weekend? I will be holding a Teams meeting today at 2.30 for years 5s. We will be completing our spelling test and we will also complete a guided reading activity. Year 3 and 4, your spelling tests and guided reading activities will take place later in the week. Please look at the video below explaining today’s activities and have a great day!

Using the mind map you completed yesterday, can you write a recount of you Christmas holidays. Your first paragraph is an introduction and should include an overview of your activities over the holidays. Then you can start adding more details in your next paragraphs. As this is a recount, please remember to use time conjunctions through out your writing. To conclude your writing you could refer back to any thoughts you had in the introduction (Even though I was worried Christmas wouldn’t be as exciting, I still had an incredible time, especially when…).
Once you have finished your recount, you can either send the document to me via email or take a picture and send it to me via dojo
Reading
Yesterday you were asked to choose a book from Fiction Express. I would like you to read the next chapter of your book.
Religious Education
Over the next few weeks we are going to be looking at different places of worship. Today we are going to look at the key features of a Church.
There are many different features within a Church, these are important to the Christian faith and the ceremonies they hold. Some of these features are listed in this table.
Please complete the table by using the descriptions at the bottom of the page. I would also like a small illustration of each feature. You can take a picture of your completed table and send it to me via class dojo or e mail.
Music
Over the next few weeks we will be using Charanga in our music lessons. I have emailed each of you your login details.
Once you have logged in you can click on the Mamma Mia tab and then click on Step 1. I would like you to work through each activity on Step 1. You do not need to submit anything as I can see you progress on Charanga.
