Home Learning Tasks Tuesday 5th May

Good morning class 2,

It was good to see some of your photos on class dojo yesterday there were some really good boat designs. It would be great if some of you could email your photographs to Hinstock too so that you can be included in the home learning display? Here is today’s work:

Maths

Can you please complete the 2do fraction wall on purple mash as your warm up.

Year 3 start on level A

Year 4 and 5 can start on level B moving on to level C if you complete it quickly.

Today you will complete the interview that you prepared yesterday. You should have chosen someone in your family to interview and prepared some questions. Today can you contact your chosen person (perhaps through skype or facetime) and ask your questions? You could either record the interview while it is taking place and write down the answers to your questions neatly after the interview, or write down the answers after you ask the questions.

Topic

Today and tomorrow I would like you to complete a family tree. You can present this in anyway that you would like. Try to be imaginative. Perhaps you could use presentation software such as powerpoint to show you family tree before using a slide to give more detail about each person. You could draw out a poster of a tree and add family photographs to it. You should find lots of ideas online to get you started. If possible try to include dates on your family tree. You could also include photographs or any other information that you like.

Home Learning Tasks Monday 4th May

Good morning class 2,

I hope you have had a good weekend? Mrs Williams is hoping to collect some examples of work or activities that you have been completing at home as part of your home learning. Some of you have already sent me some lovely photographs of things that you have ben doing but I was hoping that this week that you would be able to send me some more? Could you please ask someone in your house to test you on last week’s spellings?

This week you are going to develop a family tree. Over the next two days, I will ask you to interview a family member or members, create a short biography or description about a family member and to present your family tree (back to 4 generations – your great grandparents)  in an interesting way.

Today in English, I would like you to prepare an interview with a family member. You will carry out your interview tomorrow. Think about who you could interview. If they don’t live in the same house as you perhaps you could arrange an interview via skype or facetime? Try to think about an interesting period of history that they lived through. Your interview could ask them questions about that. Try to plan at least ten questions to ask them but you may find that you want to ask more. You can watch the video below for some ideas.

Can you design and build a boat using materials in your house? Don’t worry too much about the exact equipment you need. You could use any container that you think would be suitable. You can either print the sheet below, or just draw a picture straight into your book. Could you please try to label the force of upthrust and gravity on your drawing and then describe two improvements that you could make to your boat if you were to make your boat again.

Can you practice telling the time for your warm up?

Bronze – Telling the time to the nearest 5 minutes using the 12hr clock.

Silver – Telling the time to the nearest minute using the 12hr clock.

Who was responsible for the sinking of the Titanic? Read the role that different people may have played in the disaster. Can you then rank their responsibility using a diamond 9? The person who is the most responsible s placed at the top and then the rest are ranked accordingly.

Obstacle Course Challenge: Your challenge is to create a garden assault course for a member of your family.

The rules –

• The course must include a travel over, under, through and between something!

• The course must include a balance

• The course can include a swing, roll or limbo

• You could write or draw some instructions showing how to complete your assault course.

Home Learning Tasks Tuesday 28th April

Hi Class 2,

I am glad that some of you managed to complete the computing task on purple mash yesterday? I know you have a really good understanding of e safety so some of you were able to offer really good advice. If you haven’t managed to look at it yet, it will be available for you to complete until Friday. Here are today’s tasks.

Maths

For your warm up can you try this fraction matching game.  I suggest that year 3 work on level 1, year 4 on level 2 and year 5 on level 3. If you find it too easy, try the level above. If you find it difficult, start with a fraction you know. Remember to look carefully at the denominator (the total number) and the numerator (the number that you have).

Can you watch the video from BBC bitesize explaining what prepositions are.

There is an activity to complete under the video. Once that is complete, I have set you a 2do on purple mash called Bella and the farm.

Year 4

Can you watch the videos from BBC bitesize about proper nouns and pronouns.

Can you then complete activity 1 from the BBC site. Once you have finished that, there is a 2do for you to complete on purple mash called past and present.

Year 5

Watch the BBC bitesize video on how to use brackets for parenthesis. There is a short activity for you to complete underneath.

You can also sing along to this video!   Once you have watched those videos there is 2do for you to complete on Purple Mash called story snaps.

Topic

Take a virtual tour of The Titanic. I found it easier to navigate using the menu at the bottom of the page to look at each part of the ship. You can also move across the ship with your mouse. Once you have had a look at that, can you fill in the diagram of the cross section of the Titanic which you should have in your learning packs.

Home Learning Tasks Monday April 20th

Good morning Class 2!

I hope you have all had a lovely Easter break? I’m sure that some of you managed to complete some of the Easter challenges that I set you? Well I hope you enjoyed them. I have mostly been spending time in my garden as the weather has been so lovely. I have also been enjoying some baking and crafts with my children. I hope you have done some lovely things too. Hopefully in English you will have the chance to tell me about them. Here are the tasks for today:

Maths

Could you complete the multiplication/divisors task on your 2dos in purple mash as a warm up.

We will now be completing some of our maths from the White Rose scheme of home learning. This is the same scheme that we use in school and has a useful video to help to explain/revise concepts before you complete a task. Please find the links to the White Rose materials below.

Can you write a letter about your experiences over the past four weeks including the Easter holidays? This letter can be written either to me or to a relative that you are unable to see at the moment.
Try to include:
An introduction – Why are your writing this letter? How are you feeling? Can you explain your situation?
A description of 2 -3 things that you have done at home. This could be learning based or it could be something that you have enjoyed with your family.
What is the best part about being on lockdown? – Why?
What is the worst part? – Why?
Conclusion/Summary (Something you are looking forward to, final thoughts or anything you have learnt?)
Perhaps you could then post this letter if it is to a relative, or if you have written to me, you could photograph it and post it on class dojo? I look forward to hearing what some of you have done.

This week we will continue the Titanic work sent home in your home learning packs. Could you please look at the Titanic timeline PowerPoint below and then complete the Titanic timeline activity by cutting out the events and sticking them into your books in chronological order.

Home Learning Tasks Wednesday 1st April

Hi Class 2,

Thank you for the pictures of you parachutes yesterday there were some brilliant designs. I have also had a look at the scores for the grammar and times tables 2dos that I set you on Monday, most of you did really well – particularly with the times tables 2do so well done. Here are today’s tasks.

In your packs you should find a Titanic comprehension. Could you please complete it writing full answers into your lined book.

Music

I have set you a 2do called 2sequence. Try using it to add different instruments and sounds to create a tune. Now try speeding it up and slowing it down – can you improve the sound?  Now try moving the position of the different instruments and changing the volume of each instrument. Try making these changes until you are happy with your composition. Once it is completed please save and submit your work.

Home Learning Tasks Monday 30th March

Hello Class 2

I hope you have all had a lovely weekend. I am pleased that many of you managed to complete your tasks last week and I have enjoyed hearing off some of you on class dojo. Here are the tasks for today.

Maths

I have set you all a 2do on purple mash for English. Once you have completed the 2do there is a sheet of sentences to complete using what you have learnt.

Below is an enquiry that I would like you to do at home. This will be completed over two days – today and tomorrow. Perhaps you could try to make your parachute today and complete the questions on the second sheet straight into your books on Tuesday? I would also really like to see some of your parachute designs. Could you please take a photograph of your parachute and send it to me through class dojo? I will try and share some of the photos that I receive with you all. Don’t worry if you don’t have the exact materials at home you could try to use different items instead e.g. a small piece of fruit instead of an egg. Good luck and I am looking forward to seeing some of your designs!
