Phonics

Reception – Yesterday you looked at the oa phoneme and today we are going to look at oo.  Can you think of any words that have the oo sound in them?   Oo can make different sounds though, oo as in moon and an u sound like in cook so it can be a bit tricky! This video might help you hear the difference between the two sounds.

Review your learning by helping the alien to cross the bridge. Look at the image, listen to the word and then put the letters in the correct order.

Years One/Two – let’s look at alternative spellings for ng. We have learnt ng at the end of words, like strong and belong but it can also appear in the middle of a word as an n on it’s own if it’s followed by the letter k, like in thinker, blinking or stinking.

Have a look at these words and add the sound buttons to the ng phoneme in each one.

Can you make me a numbers book?  It needs to have a picture that represents how many, a numeral (1) and the written word to show that numeral (one). Maybe your book could have a theme like transport or animals? Start with 0 and see if you can you go all the way to 10!

Years One/Two -today we are comparing objects within 50. We are looking at more than/less than, or more/fewer.  Sometimes our answers might be the same though so we say that is equal to or =.  Remember our number gators to help out with this and don’t forget, the crocodile always eats the largest number!

Watch the powerpoint on the Tropical Rainforest.  Can you create your own rainforest scene showing which animals live in the different layers. Use a piece of paper placed landscape and create sky and land, remember to add the different sorts of trees needed to create a landscape.  Please add colour to make it stand out.
